We leverage the simplicity, safety and cost-effectiveness of acupuncture into community-based education for people of all socio-economic backgrounds, and specialized training for front-line healthcare workers.
We also support the international NADA Acudetox community by helping regional groups build infrastructure, best practices, and mentoring new, local trainers.
We apprentice acupuncture educators and project organizers to be leaders in facilitating Barefoot Acupuncture.
Together with local health groups responding at the grassroots level, we facilitate immersion programs and cultural exchanges as we create networks of solidarity and self-help in areas affected by violence, injustice, poverty and environmental destruction.
Sustainable programs begin with grounded insight from experienced organizers. Our Collective offers technical support for acupuncture projects in humanitarian aid contexts. Our commitment is to cultivate a conscious mutual learning process both in long term planning as well as the nuts and bolts of integrating acupuncture within a healthcare program.
The foundation of our approach is partnering with local communities. Our Barefoot Collective sustains our network of partnerships and mutual aid, and teaches apprentices how to engage in grassroots organizing and sustainable health development.
Our Barefoot Collective prepares you to volunteer in disaster relief, and how your skills and talents can support long-term community development. We mentor you as you grow into a confident, dynamic, engaging and well-rounded educator prepared to serve in our Movement.
Our Barefoot Collective serves as a facilitator among outside aid as well local groups to offer mobile Barefoot Acupuncture services in the aftermath of disaster, violence, or displacement. We work to identify social strengths, to build on local capacities, and to support each community’s initiatives for long term recovery.
Our Collective serves as a global resource hub for community-engaged research. Each Barefoot Clinic teaches us something new about acupuncture as a humanitarian aid and community development model. As a best practice incubator, we promote self-help among our global partners and assist in the development of vetted models of care, and customized capacity building.
If you want to become a trainer for our Barefoot Schools, or increase your skills as a leader and social entrepreneur, our Barefoot Collective offers a group of experienced organizers and educators to help you cultivate self-awareness, cultural competency and conscious leadership. We apprentice providers, educators, and community organizers.
Our BAREFOOT SCHOOL is designed to prepare you to be a part of our Collective.
Courses range from Liberation Acupuncture, grassroots pedagogical and organizing approaches, cultural competency, and clinical skill development (i.e. NADA acupuncture / acudetox, moxa).
